Does your crotch hang low? (Does it wooble to and fro?)

Drop Crotch Pants. Love them. I saw them at the student fashion show last year and then started seeing the trend pop up in pictures and in shopping searches. I like the effect it has on proportion. It's always fun to play around with proportion and see people's reactions.

So I decided to make a pair but out of something interesting. I was staying at a friend's house when I spied the bag of sweaters I had brought over for them to rummage through. For some reason, I decided to put my legs through the sleeves. Weird yes, but I wanted to see what it would look like after.

The result was something close to drop crotch pants. I got excited and started playing with the sweater.

It was especially amusing if I stood on one leg it looked like a headless handstand. ;)

My inspiration:

And my final results:

I had a lot of fun making them and people's reactions? Hysterical. I was walking on my way to one of my classes down a very long hall. Everyone who was talking as I passed by stopped so they could stare at me. It was pretty ridiculous but I don't care. The sweater material definitely makes them very comfortable.

Peace Out.

P.S.
Another person I found on the net is making his own garments as well. He made a cool pair of very low drop crotch pants out of some great fabric - Check it out here.

  1. Thanks for linking to the drop crotch pants I made! :) Yours look cool, I have been planning on making another pair in jersey with rib knit for the waistband and cuffs. The first ones I made weren't made from tshirts though, I used vintage printed woven quilting fabrics I found in my mother's collection. Anyhow, I like your blog a lot, you post some cool things and we have a bit in common, I'm a fashion design student in the midwest too and we both like Final Fantasy haha. :)

  2. Oh not a problem! I really like how you made them. They have nice movement.

I have this other sweater with a nice rib knit that I'm considering making into another pair.

Sorry about the misunderstanding, I think I must of misread something when I was looking at your pictures. I fixed it and thanks for letting me know. :)

Very cool on being a fellow Midwestern cub. What part are you in? I'm in frigid Michigan.

Final Fantasy = Kudos. I love 2 & 7. Old school stuff but the rest are very good.

  3. love love love that you made a post about guys in drop crotch pants! i stumbled onto this blog when my friend showed me someone who was equally as obsessed as i am (i have five soon to be six). sadly, i don't think it's caught on much...even in SF. i haven't seen many guys sporting them.

you should look at rag&bone's ninja pants from the fall '09 collection. absolutely amazing! you'd love.

  4. Thanks for the compliment! I'm in Ohio, which is quite frigid at the moment too. :) I like the PS1-era FF games the best but I like the others too!

  5. Paul - Thanks! I love them and I wish they would catch on but it looks like the trend is hitting towards the laggard end of the totem pole which is sad. When I wear mine in rural conservative Michigan... It's not exactly a statement to them so much as a "WTF!!"

Kevin - Aww, you're my lil neighbor, haha. I love the PS1 era FF games as well. ;)
